{"id":45724,"date":"2016-12-21T08:54:15","date_gmt":"2016-12-21T08:54:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/?p=45724"},"modified":"2016-12-21T09:27:29","modified_gmt":"2016-12-21T09:27:29","slug":"ec-delist-200-political-parties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/ec-delist-200-political-parties\/","title":{"rendered":"EC to delist 200 political parties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Election Commission will write to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) informing it about the decision to delist 200-odd political parties, which exist only on paper.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sources said the Election Commission suspects that most of these political parties could be money-laundering operations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Commission has the power to register a political party, but there is no guideline to allow it to de-register any party that has been recognised.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Election Commission has written to several governments in the past, requesting for power to deregister &#8220;non-serious&#8221; political parties.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-45726\" src=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Indian-Political-Parties-Logo.jpg\" alt=\"EC to delist 200 political parties\" width=\"607\" height=\"341\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, nothing has been done in this regard yet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Under existing law, various political parties are expected to file their Income-Tax returns containing details of donors, who have made contributions above Rs. 20,000.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Most political parties, however, declare most of their funds as having come from unnamed donors donating less than Rs. 20,000 each.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The political parties by doing so get away without having to name the source of their donations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Election Commission will write to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) informing it about the decision to delist 200-odd political parties, which exist only on paper.
