Saddened by the reports of harassment of Muslims, African-Americans and Latinos following his victory in the election, President-elect Donald Trump has for the first time publicly asked people to \u201cStop it\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am so saddened to hear that. And I say, \u2018Stop it\u2019 If it \u2014 if it helps. I will say this, and I will say right to the cameras: Stop it,\u201d Mr. Trump told the CBS\u2019 \u201860 Minute\u2019 on Sunday.<\/p>\n

He was responding to a question on a wave of alleged hate crimes against Muslims, Hispanic Americans, black people, ethnic minorities and the LGBT community in recent days.<\/p>\n

\"Stop<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you want to say anything to those people?\u201d he was asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would say don\u2019t do it, that\u2019s terrible, \u2018cause I\u2019m gonna bring this country together,\u201d Mr. Trump said.<\/p>\n

The president-elect said some section of the society are scared about him because they do not know him. He asked them not to be afraid.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s only because they don\u2019t know me,\u201d he said.\u201cWhat do you think they\u2019re demonstrating against?\u201d he was asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think in some cases, you have professional protesters,\u201d he said, referring to mentions about it in Wikileaks.\u201cDon\u2019t be afraid. We are going to bring our country back.<\/p>\n

\"Stop<\/p>\n

But certainly, don\u2019t be afraid. You know, we just had an election and sort of like you have to be given a little time.<\/p>\n

I mean, people are protesting. If Hillary had won and if my people went out and protested, everybody would say, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s a terrible thing\u2019 And it would have been a much different attitude.
