\nThe Union minister Thakur said the government has big plans for the special session of Parliament, commencing on September 18, but did not disclose the agenda.<\/p>\n
The Centre on Saturday had notified the eight-member committee to examine and make recommendations on the issue of holding simultaneous elections. The committee will be headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind.<\/p>\n
While some say that the session is to go for snap polls, others say that it is to pave the way for the early elections. KCR and Jagan have announced that they are ready for polls at any point in time.<\/p>\n
Betting on snap poll is also going on across the country. CEC on the other hand is holding review meeting with the state officals and police.<\/p>\n
The process has begun in Telangana.
\nThere is every chnce tht some welfare measures could be announced by the BJP Government in this session for the assembly polls in five states.<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently advocated for simultaneous elections since his single-party victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.<\/p>\n
Even the 2014 BJP poll manifesto briefly mentioned it on page 14 under Institutional Reform, stating The BJP \u201cwill seek to evolve\u201d a method for \u201cholding Assembly and Lok Sabha elections simultaneously\u201d through consultation with other parties.
\nThe BJP\u2019s argument was to reduce election expenses for both political parties and the government while ensuring stability for State governments. Veteran BJP leader Murali Manohar Joshi chaired the party\u2019s Manifesto Committee at that time.<\/p>\n
