The Indian Green Building Council is holding its 20 th edition of Green Building Congress
\n2022 (India\u2019s Annual Flagship Conference & Expo on Green Built Environment) between 20 -22 October 2022 at HICC, Hyderabad with the theme \u2018Advancing Net Zero \u2013 Buildings & Built Environment\u2019 As part of the 3 days event, an award-presenting ceremony was held on 21.10.2022 at HICC, Hyderabad, and for the category \u2018State Government encouraging Green Building Movement in India through multi-pronged approach\u2019, the MAUD Department, Govt. of Telangana has been awarded with the \u201cGreen Champion Award\u201d. Shri Sudarshan Reddy, Secretary, MA&UD Department and Shri Devendar Reddy, Chief City Planner, GHMC received the awards on behalf of State Government at the event held here at HICC, Hyderabad Telangana State which is one of the leading states in the country in terms of green building footprint has 575 green building projects registered with IGBC, contributing 1,030 million sq ft.<\/p>\n
\nThe Telangana State being the 1 st State in the country to adopt the Energy Conservation
\nBuilding Code (ECBC) has also brought wide initiatives in the Energy area by making mandate for adoption of ECBC guidelines in all Commercial Buildings with more than 1000 sq.mts of site area and 2000 sq.mts. of built up area, thus encouraging the adoption of Green Building concept. The Cool Roofing Policy adopted is also one of its unique kinds which reduces the consumption of electricity in the buildings during summer, thereby contributing to saving electricity.<\/p>\n
\nThe Harithaharam initiative by Telangana has also gained global recognition with Hyderabad recently winning the prestigious;World Green City Award 2022\u2019.<\/p>\n
\nThe green movement in the state has grown from buildings to built-environment. In this context, the planning and infrastructure of 4 cities in Telangana are being developed as per the IGBC Green Cities Rating. These cities fall under the jurisdiction of GHMC and Municipal
\nCorporations of Warangal, Khammam and Karimnagar.<\/p>\n
\nThe initiatives were all implemented with the support and guidance of Hon\u2019ble Minister for MA&UD Department, Govt. of Telangana who has a vision to take Green Building concept across the State.<\/p>\n
