Hyderabad has won the overall \u2018World Green City Award 2022\u2019 and another award in the category \u2018Living Green for Economic Recovery and Inclusive Growth\u2019 at the International Association of Horticulture Producers (AIPH) 2022 World Green City Awards 2022 held in Jeju, South Korea today.<\/p>\n
\nAIPH invited entries for \u2018World Green Cities Awards 2022\u2019 across six categories. A total of 18 finalists across six categories were selected and final category wise winners were announced today. The 6 categories and shortlisted countries are mentioned below:<\/p>\n
\n1. Living Green for Biodiversity \u2013 Columbia, Australia, France,
\n2. Living Green for Climate Change – Turkey, Australia, Mexico
\n3. Living Green for Health and Wellbeing \u2013 Brazil, Netherlands, Australia
\n4. Living Green for Water \u2013 Canada, Australia, South Africa
\n5. Living Green for Social Cohesion -Argentina, South Korea, France
\n6. Living Green for Economic Recovery & Inclusive Growth- Canada, Iran, India<\/p>\n
\nHyderabad is the only Indian City that was selected and it is a matter of pride for Hyderabad, Telangana and India that Hyderabad has won not only the category award but the overall \u2018World Green City 2022\u2019 award i.e. the best across all 6 categories.<\/p>\n
\nIn the category \u2018Living Green for Economic Recovery and Inclusive Growth\u2019, the greening of the Outer Ring Road was submitted as Hyderabad\u2019s entry. The category focusses on creating systems and solutions that allow all city residents to overcome economic distress and thrive and the ORR greenery called as \u2018Green Necklace to the State of Telangana\u2019 was adjudged the best in this category.<\/p>\n
\nHon\u2019ble Minister for MA&UD, Sri. KT Rama Rao has been emphasising on ensuring greenery along the Outer Ring Road and under the guidance of Hon\u2019ble CM Sri. K Chandrasekhar Rao, massive greenery efforts have been undertaken. This award is a testimony to the continued efforts and focus of the Government of Telangana on increasing the green cover in the State through its flagship programme \u2018Telangana ku Haritha Haram\u2019 (TKHH).<\/p>\n
