The biggest concern of urbanisation is pollution \u2013 be it air, water or ground – all contributed by factors like increasing density of population, transportation, waste disposal practices, etc. The Telangana Government is striking a right balance between development and conservation by giving the highest priority to maintaining ecological balance in urban sector alongside its known priorities of infrastructure creation, industrial promotion, employment generation, etc.<\/p>\n
Initiatives like Haritha Haram, creation of Urban Forest Blocks, establishment of Sewerage Treatment Plants (STPs), Municipal Waste Management practices, etc., are aimed at improving the \u201cquality of life\u201d to the urban citizens. The Government have taken several initiatives for preservation and rejuvenation of water bodies and protection of open spaces in order to create more \u201clung spaces\u201d for protection and preservation of ecological balance.<\/p>\n
The HMDA is promoting the concept of \u201cEco Ganesha\u201d \/ \u201cGreen Ganesha\u201d \/ \u201cClay Ganesha\u201d since long as immersion of such idols in water bodies may not have any debilitating effect on water quality. In fact, from the year 2017, the HMDA is distributing \u201cClay Ganesha\u2019s\u201d to citizens on free of cost basis in order to minimise the usage of PoP based idols.<\/p>\n
The initiative begun with distribution of 30,000 idols initially is received well and there is ever increasing demand by the citizens and communities for supply of \u201cClay Ganeshas\u201d. This year, the HMDA is planning to enhance this number to 1.00 lakh.<\/p>\n
The HMDA is making arrangements to distribute 8\u201d Clay Ganesh Idols of 1,00,000 Nos. to the Public, NGO\u2019s at free of cost to encourage use of Clay Ganesh Idols , so as to create awareness in the public in protection of the environment. HMDA is making distribution every year and also this year at 41 locations in Hyderabad.<\/p>\n
The arrangements are made to distribute directly to the public at various locations and also on mobile vans involving the HMDA Staff and Officers in the work.<\/p>\n
