As the state is likely to witness heavy rains over the next couple of days
\nas per the IMD reports, Chief Minister Sri K Chandrashekar Rao, directed the
\nChief Secretary Somesh Kumar IAS to impress upon the District Collectors to
\nbe on high alert.<\/p>\n
Accordingly Chief Secretary held a teleconference with senior
\nofficials and District Collectors and apprised them about the heavy to very
\nheavy rainfall threat across the state and the need to be vigilant. He asked them
\nto focus on ensuring that there is no loss of human life.<\/p>\n
Chief Secretary stated that there is a heavy to very heavy rainfall alert
\nover the next couple of days as such he directed the Collectors to ensure that
\nall the officials in the district are available in the headquarters and no leave
\nshould be allowed. Low-lying areas should be identified. Relief camps should
\nbe kept ready.<\/p>\n
He directed the Collectors to work in close coordination with all the line
\ndepartments and take all preventive measures and see that no untoward
\nincident takes place. Chief Secretary directed the collectors to set up a control
\nroom in the Collectorate.<\/p>\n
The IMD projects heavy rainfall and the impact will
\nbe seen from tomorrow afternoon. There may be breaches to irrigation tanks.
\nroads, causeways may also likely be submerged. As the tanks, ponds and
\nreservoirs are in spate, officials should be on high alert and see that sandbags
\nare kept ready if breaches to vulnerable tanks takes place, Chief Secretary said.
