Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Wednesday
\nstated that the role of universities need to play a pivotal role in transforming
\nthe country into a knowledge-based economy.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe National Education Policy-2020 aims to create a knowledge-based
\neconomy and to ensure the country\u2019s journey towards emerging as the
\nknowledge superpower. This is where the higher educational institutions
\nshould take the lead,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
Delivering the Chancellor\u2019s Address at the 15th Convocation of the Potti
\nSreeramulu Telugu University at Ravindra Bharathi, here, the Governor
\nalso called for a rethinking on the assessment parameters related to the
\nstudents\u2019 performance in the universities.<\/p>\n
The Governor also emphasized on the need for adopting the application-
\ndriven curriculum from the content-driven curriculum to promote all-round
\ninnovation.<\/p>\n
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan appreciated the efforts of the Potti Sreeramulu
\nTelugu University in promoting and perpetuating our unique arts and
\nculture through different courses and programmes.<\/p>\n
Congratulating the gold medal winners and others who were receiving their
\ndegrees, the Governor exhorted them to work for the country\u2019s progress
\nthrough their commitment, dedication, and efforts for excellence in their
\nchosen fields.<\/p>\n
As part of the Convocation, the honorary doctorate was conferred upon the
\nTelangana State Human Rights Commission Chairman Justice G.
\nChandraiah, who was also the chief guest on the occasion.<\/p>\n
A total of 73 scholars were presented with doctoral degrees and 21
\nscholars received their M. Phil degrees, while 21 students and scholars
\nwere given gold medals in different streams.<\/p>\n
PSRU Vice Chancellor Prof. T. Kishan Rao, Registrar Prof. B. Ramesh,
\ndeans, senior faculty members, students, and parents were present on the
