Chief Secretary Sri Somesh Kumar IAS said that the Honourable Chief
\nMinister K Chandrashekar Rao is continuously monitoring the heavy rains
\nsituation in the state.<\/p>\n
Chief Secretary held a meeting and took stock of the
\nsituation arising out of the incessant rains over the last few days and water
\nlevels in Godavari and its impact at BRKR Bhavan today.<\/p>\n
Somesh Kumar stated that special focus is now on Mulugu, Bhupalpally
\nand Bhadrachalam districts due to heavy discharge.<\/p>\n
The low-lying areas have been identified and the situation is being continuously monitored on an hourly basis.<\/p>\n
Officials informed that the IMD has predicted light rainfall in 9 districts,
\nvery light rains in another 10 districts while the remaining districts will receive
\nno rainfall. The situation in most of the districts is normal and no major
\nincidents have been reported from any district.<\/p>\n
Seven NDRF teams have been<\/p>\n
deployed of which three are in Bhadrachalam, while two each are in Mulugu
\nand Bhupalpally. Officials are monitoring the water overflows and inundation.<\/p>\n
Around 19,071 people have been shifted to 223 special camps in the
\nstate. 6318 persons have been shifted to 43 camps in Bhadrachalam, 4049
\npersons in 33 camps in Mulugu and 1226 people have been placed in 20 camps
\nin Bhupalpally.<\/p>\n
16 persons have been rescued by NDRF while another two
\npersons were airlifted by the Indian Air Force so far.
\nSecretary Disaster Management Sri Rahul Bojja and other officials
\nattended the meeting.<\/p>\n
