Thus, he sounded the part for the romantic Dilip Kumar when he sang \u201cTere husn ki kya taarif karun\u201d in Leader (1964), the soul of Guru Dutt in such songs as \u201cYeh duniya agar mil bhi jaaye to kya hai\u201d in Pyaasa (1957), the irrepressible Shammi Kapoor singing \u201cYahoo\u201d in Junglee (1961), and even the mischievous Johny Walker offering a \u201cTel malish\u201d in Pyaasa. His duets with other leading playback singers of Hindi cinema were equally memorable and popular.<\/p>\n
The composer Naushad recognized the budding singer\u2019s potential and gave Rafi his first solo song assignment, \u201cTera khilona toota balak\u201d in Anmol Ghadi (1946), and later the song \u201cIs duniya mein ae dilwalo\u201d in Dillagi (1949), which proved to be a milestone in his singing career.
