Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on Tuesday visited the Bowenpally Agriculture market, where the country’s first of its kind renewable power generation plant using vegetable waste was set up.<\/p>\n
Inspired by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s appreciation to the plant during his latest Mann ki Baat programme, Hon’ble Governor made a visit to the plant.<\/p>\n
The Governor appreciated the CSIR-IICT scientists for the innovative idea. She lauded the initiative of agriculture, marketing officials for translating the idea into a reality thus setting an example for others to follow.<\/p>\n
The Governor termed the plant as a true role model for other agriculture markets across the State and country and deserves replication for effective disposal and utilization of vegetable waste generated in the markets.<\/p>\n
The plant, which is developed using indigenous technology, was funded by Dept of Biotechnology, Government of India as part of the CSIR-IICT project. The TS agriculture and marketing department too supported the plant by funding and allocation of the land.<\/p>\n
The power generation through bio gas plant using the vegetables waste generated is being used at the market yard canteen to save the LPG used as cooking gas.<\/p>\n
\u201cRenewable energy is environmental friendly and need to be promoted in a big way. It is like creation of wealth from waste,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
This is one genuine example of the Vocal for Local concept and Atma Nirbhar Bharat vision of the Hon’ble Prime minister, she said.<\/p>\n
