IT & Industries Minister KT Rama Rao along with Energy Minister Jagdish Reddy held a joint meeting with Singareni, Mines, and Geology & Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation Limited (TSMDC) officials on setting up an integrated steel plant at Bayyaram.<\/p>\n

A committee has been formed to study and submit a detailed report on Bayyaram steel plant in one month. The committee includes officials from Energy, Singareni, Mines and Geology & TSMDC Departments.<\/p>\n

The committee will study the process of establishment of steel plant and availability of land, water and iron ore resources and road connectivity.<\/p>\n

As per AP State Reorganisation Act 2014, Telangana has been assured a steel plant at Bayyaram. \u201cThough there are a lot of possibilities for setting up of a steel plant at Bayyaram, Central Government is not responding positively since four years,\u201d Rama Rao added.<\/p>\n

Telangana government has been pursuing the issue of setting up of the steel plant with the Union government. Minister reiterated that the State government would continue its efforts to get the steel plant established at Bayyaram at any cost.<\/p>\n

In today\u2019s meeting, Minister Rama Rao said, \u201cThe state government has approached Union Government many times for setting up of a steel plant at Bayyaram. In Spite of Telangana government providing assurance on bearing the 50% expenditure, the centre is not responding positively.<\/p>\n

We will relentlessly pursue with the Union government at all levels for establishing a steel plant at Bayyaram. Telangana government is committed to Bayyaram steel plant with or without the support of Government of India.\u201d<\/p>\n

The steel plant at Bayyaram is expected to create a lot of direct and in indirect employment opportunities in the state.<\/p>\n
