In simple terms worshipping Maa Laxmi for money.

Varalakshmi Vratam is a festival widely popular in parts of Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. It is observed in Shravana (July-August) Shukla Paksha on Friday. This year, Varalakshmi Vratam will be celebrated on 25 August 2023.

As a tribute to Goddess Lakshmi, many married women fast on this day and seek blessings for their families and husbands. ‘Vara’ translates to boons, which Lakshmi bestows on her worshippers.

Today everything in the market is costing more in the name Laxmi pooja. Even beetle leaves are costly apart from the flowers. God Laxmi is worshipped with 9 kinds of foods and later the food is served to friends and relatives.

Some people offer soaked chana and a blouse piece and seek their blessings. The Temples are also busy with people today, especially in the evening.

Some employees have got an optional Holiday. CM KCR is opening the religious places along with the Governor here in the newly constructed state Secretariat.

Special poojas are performed here at TTD and also Yadadri.
