The Supreme Court has ordered the AP Police that it would not arrest Babu in the FiberNet and that it would deal with the case after a decision on the quash petition of Babu in the Skill scam case is resolved.
On the other hand, the quash petition was not registered in the list for today in the Supreme Court.
The Andhra Pradesh Police assured the Supreme Court earlier that they wouldn’t arrest Naidu in the FiberNet case until October 18, due to his pending petition related to the Skill Development Corporation scam.
The FiberNet case involves alleged irregularities in awarding a work order under Phase-1 of the AP FiberNet Project, worth Rs 330 crore.
The Andhra Pradesh Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) alleged improprieties in the project from tender allocation to work completion, causing significant financial losses to the state.
73-year-old Naidu was arrested on September 9 for alleged misappropriation of funds from the Skill Development Corporation during his tenure as chief minister in 2015, causing an alleged loss of Rs 371 crore to the state.
Later they said that it is only 27 crores and not 371 crore. Babu still remains in judicial remand at the Rajahmundry Central Prison. The Lawyers of Babu are waiting for quash the petition under 17 A as it will help Babu to come out of all the cases.
The FiberNet case has been postponed for November 9 by the Supreme Court.
